Stirling's Bridges

The old bridge (left) was built between 1410 & 1415. The southern arch was rebuilt in 1749 after it was blown up in the '45.

The new bridge (right) was designed by Robert Stevenson, grandfather of Robert Louis Stevenson, and was opened in 1833.

There were earlier bridges that crossed the River Forth, including the wooden structure made famous by the battle in 1297 when William Wallace led the Scottish soldiers to victory over the English army.
