StirlingHoly Rude Church
On 29th July 1567 the infant James VI was crowned king here - the only Church, apart from Westminster Abbey, in the United Kingdom to have held a coronation. In 1656 the Church was divided into two sections after a dispute in the congregation. It was altered in the nineteenth century; further restoration work took place in the twentieth century with the dividing wall being removed in 1936. The Star Pyramid commemorates all who were martyred while seeking religious freedom. |
