Kingussie

Kingussie is located between the Cairngorms and Monadhliath mountains, in Badenoch; the village, which sits alongside the Allt Mhor near where it flows in to the River Spey, was laid out in 1799 to a plan by the Duke of Gordon.

In 1893, the Comann na Camanachd, Camanachd Association, the governing body for shinty, was formed following a meeting in Kingussie to formalise the rules for the game.

The Ruthven Barracks are located to the south of Kingussie; the B970 passes under the A9 to reach the barracks.
