Invermoriston

Approaching this small village along the A82 from Fort Augustus the road crosses the River Moriston. Just upstream from the current bridge, sitting over the waterfalls, is an older, partly ruined bridge built by Telford in 1813.

From the village itself the A887 heads west alongside the river and through Glen Moriston. This road eventually joins the A87 that runs from Invergarry to Kyle of Lochalsh and Skye. The A82 meanwhile continues alongside Loch Ness towards Urquhart Castle and Drumnadrochit.
