Glen Roy

Three miles to the east of Spean Bridge is Roy Bridge where a minor road turns north through Glen Roy (which is a designated National Nature Reserve).

In the glen are the Parallel Roads - 3 ancient 'beaches' that mark the shore lines of a loch that had been here following the last ice age. They sit at 350m (1149 ft), 326m (1068 ft) and 261m (875ft), are 10-30m wide and stretch for 16km (10 mile) along the valley sides. They are known locally as Fingal's Roads.

Where the River Roy joins the River Turret is the single arched Turret Bridge which is believed to be one of General Wade's. There is no evidence to support this though it is said the road was used to avoid Corrieyairrich.

A few miles east of Roy Bridge is Tulloch where the road and rail routes separate - the railway line heads south, passing Loch Treig, towards Rannoch Moor.

Glen Gloy runs between and parallel to Glen Roy and the Great Glen.
