Badenoch

Badenoch is the area of the eastern Highlands sitting between the Cairngorm and Monadhliath mountains. The area is also the upper valley of the River Spey.

Travelling through the area northeast on the A9, having crossed the Pass of Drumochter and following the course of the River Truim, the road bypasses Dalwhinnie; this can be reached by following the A889 that heads north, passing the north eastern end of Loch Ericht. The A889 then joins with the A86, which heads northeast through Newtonmore and Kingussie before rejoining the A9; heading east on the A86 leads to Spean Bridge and the Great Glen.
