Aviemore

Aviemore is a town in the Strathspey area of the eastern Highlands and sits to the west of the  Cairngorm mountains. During the 1960s the town grew as the mountain region was developed for skiing and other outdoor activities.

The town was originally the site of an inn on Wade's military road and developed further in the 19th century with the opening of the railway line to Inverness.
