I never saw Top Gear last night, but found out this morning that The Stig has apparently been revealed:

I'll leave it for you all to decide whether the person in the video (who I will not name in case anyone wants to watch the programme first) is The Stig or not... :whistling:

It looks like The Stig wasn't revealed in the above video clip... but it seems his real identity (which has really been known for a long time) will be made public soon:

Quote:
The High Court has refused to ban the publication of a book revealing that Top Gear’s The Stig is racing driver Ben Collins. After more than a day of legal argument in private, Mr Justice Morgan said he would not grant the BBC a temporary injunction blocking publication of Mr Collins’s autobiography.

Shortly before his ruling, Mr Collins left the courtroom to return home to Bristol, where his wife has recently given birth. Asked by waiting reporters if he was The Stig, the 33-year-old James Bond stunt double said he could not talk about it.

The full story can be read in The Herald!

Of course, if Ben Collins is The Stig then he won't be for much longer... after Perry McCarthy revealed that he was The Stig (the one that drove in the black suit) then he (The Stig) was killed off!

That might be too obvious as it would almost certainly mean that the next Stig was Sabine Schmitz, who has now appeared in Top Gear twice...

Now that the best kept secret :?: is about to be revealed (apparently The Sun will be publishing part(s) of Ben Collins's autobiography from tomorrow) there will have to be a new identity (and colour?) for The Stig! When Perry revealed himself as the black-suited Stig he was killed off when he drove his car (a Jag) off the end of an aircraft carrier... so it will be interesting to see how/if the white-suited Stig will meet his end!

Many will by now know that on the new Series of Top Gear, "Sacked Stig" has been replaced by "New Stig" after some interim filling in by Tiff Needell.

Some fascinating speculation on this site focuses on the apparently small height of the new Stig (not noticed it myself in the most recent episode) and the front contender is said to be Sabine Schmitz:

To be honest I never noticed the height of New Stig, but if you are looking for short racing drivers then how about Johnny Herbert (167cm/5' 6") and Allan McNish (165cm/5' 5")... or even Takuma Sato (162cm/5' 4")? Note that these heights could be wrong; when I met Herbert many years ago I thought he was more than an inch or so shorter than me!

I have to admit that some flaws in the Sabine Schmitz theory have sprung to mind since I posted that. Most notably that the "star in a resonably priced car" gets trained by Stig, and if any of them were ever to mention that Stig was (a) female and (b) had a German accent it would give the game away instantly.

I'd imagine that the stars would have to sign some sort of clause that means they can't say too much about The Stig and to be honest I can't think of (m)any that have even meantioned its sex... tho knowing Clarkson he'd probably say it can only have sex with itself anyway! :whistling:
