WHEN he first lined up a jack in his sights, Clement Attlee occupied Downing Street and Buckingham Palace was home to a king. But at an age when many of his peers are content to look back on past glories, Willie Wood is once again preparing to answer his country's call.
In what will be a record-breaking eighth Commonwealth Games appearance, the 72-year-old bowler has been selected to represent Scotland in Delhi later this year. The call-up is the latest honour in an international career which has spanned nearly five decades, during which time he has won two Commonwealth gold medals and a place in the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame.
