The following is from The Scotsman:

WHISKY lovers from across the world will have their eyes on Glasgow next week, as one of the world's rarest half-bottles goes under the hammer. The 1927 Springbank is the star attraction in the McTear's Winter Rare Whisky Sale and is expected to fetch between £4,000 and £6,000.

The rare dram, which was distilled by J & A Mitchell & Co in 1900 and drawn in 1927, is one of 500 lots in the sale. "You don't find too many half bottles coming to auction, but it is very rare indeed to find one of this quality," said McTear's whisky specialist Andrew Bell. "Springbank is an extremely collectable whisky and I am sure there will be a lot of interest in this outstanding example."

Among the other lots going under the hammer will be a 1964 Bowmore, with an expected price of between £3,200 and £4,000, and a 1938 Macallan, which could fetch up to £1,600. Also up for sale are a 20-year-old Caol Ila, which was produced to mark the distillery's 150th anniversary and has an estimate of between £1,000 and £1,400.
