... does it take to change a light bulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
5 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
3 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section
3 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
2 to flame the spell checkers
1 to correct spelling/grammar flames
3 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 3 to condemn those 3 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
8 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
2 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
4 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
15 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
2 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
1 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
4 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
3 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
2 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
3 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again...

I'm sure you forgot a few people... like the 1 person that will post about something off-topic and the 6 or 7 that will continue the other discussion - and of course there will also be a couple of mods who will continually try to bring the subject back to lightbulbs/light bulbs (probably one for each variation!) and an admin that will threaten to close the topic off to stop anyone else making out that 10 lightbulbs for 99p is NOT good value!

Hahahaha

Bruce I think that Ken might have read a certain thread in TBIS about Campbells and Macdonalds and a light bulb went on in his head.

That's possible Liz, but if its the case then there's someone missing... a certain person that only knows what he's been told by a certain few biased people and is unable to accept someone else's point of view and will argue with anyone that disagrees with him! This person will also make out that the only thing that should be discussed is the subject of the topic... unless of course he happens to agree with the person that posted off-topic in which case he'll contradict himself and accuse anyone else of trying to bring the topic back on track of overstepping the mark (or words to that effect!)

Of course, its unlikely that such a person really exists... even though I do know him all too well

I can't help but feel sorry for him, even so he irritates the fire out of me. To look at the world through a narrow tunnel is a sad thing, it keeps you from appreciating the magnificient beauty of it all.

I suppose you have to feel sorry for someone that has basically been totally misled (lied to even!) all his life... of course you also have to realise that someone as gullible as that lacks intelligence as well

TBIS? Wot's TBIS? But then again, if it's somewhere where people hammer on about Campbells and MacDonalds, I probably don't want to know anyway!

Ken, you were actually supposed to tell us that this topic is about light bulbs and not TBIS, the MacDonald/Campbell issue or anything else not related to light bulbs

Well, remaining on the subject of humour, I was struck recently by a framed poster in the cafe at the foot of the Glen Coe ski area main chairlift which advertised the "Coe River Race of Glencoe" or "Ossian's Last Ride", a white water rafting race that took place on Saturday 30 August 1969. Prizes in different categories and age groups were in multiple bottles of whisky.

There were a number of rules for the race. They included things like the nature of the craft to be used, the need to wear helmets and lifejackets, and the fact that "those travelling upstream will be disqualified". And the final rule was that: "Campbells will be handicapped."

That would be the same Campbells that were (still are?) barred from the Clachaig Inn!

Is it the Clachaig that has the sign saying "No Campbells or Hawkers"? I was at the Inn in Feburary and never noticed it :(

Was in a hurry to get in out of the cold and never noticed it. Although that doesn't mean it's not there, will need to check next time I'm in the glen and see if it is away or not.
