When we have a theme for the Photo of the Month, should this theme apply to both the Scottish and the International competitions?

I'll leave this as a Yes or No vote, but feel free to let us know what you think! Here's my "selfish" reason (which I posted elsewhere) as to why I personally don't want a theme (at least not yet):

Quote:
I don't have that many photos from outside Scotland as it is, so restricting my own choices there doesn't make much sense...

Of course, there is always the option to submit a photo from Scotland so I guess this doesn't really cause a problem!

As I said, your thoughts are appreciated!

What about all our members who have had difficulties in getting Scottish photos for the themes, and like you say we can add a Scotland photo of our own.

I said yes we should have so lets see what everyone else thinks....:D

I'm the other one who said "Yes" but it seems that most are favour of 'No' at the moment.
I really don't find this a problem if the concensus stays this way, as those who have similarly themed pictures may still use them even though they are not forced to.

Thinking of it, this i-PotM does seem a good idea as it gives people the chance to show their photo skills used whilst travelling and on holidays.

You will also notice I started a discussion about my current i-Potm in outwith Scotland, this was not to try and promote the picture, but to explain where it is and also to invite comments, especially as I am not quite 100% happy with the lighting on it.

I think it a good idea to have such discussions, certainly for the i-PotM entries as I am sure people will be entering pictures from areas totally new to many on here.

Anyway, those are my thoughts,
Keith

I think that is a good idea too. Any iPotM* photos that you want to discuss then feel free to set up a topic in Outwith Scotland; for photos taken in Scotland you could always add a discussion in Images of Scotland or Photo Workshop (tho I might move the latter out of the Images of Scotland section and in to The Wee Forum as it isn't really about Scotland)!

* Looks like a potential new application for an iPhone!

Unlike the other poll that is currently running, this looks like the result is already decided... but there's still time to vote (voting ends just after 3pm) so we'll see if that's how it ends!

Sorry Keith and Linda, you were outnumbered on this, but that doesn't mean we won't have the same theme for both competitions at some point in the future! For just now however I would like to get some more photos added for the international version so with that in mind myself and Linda will be looking for photos we've taken outside Scotland... something we've been meaning to do for a few days now! :whistling:

Overwhelming!
No problem for me, I may still choose to submit same themes for both, but then at least I don't have to.

That's always an option... unless of course we have a month where each competition has a different theme! :whistling:
