Whisky sales across the world have jumped by more than 10m bottles this year. Whisky exports have jumped by more than 10 million bottles this year, official figures have revealed, despite tipplers saving money by switching to cheaper brands.

A total of 807.5 million bottles were exported in the first nine months of the year, compared with 796.6 million in the same period last year. But the value of sales has dropped by about £80 million as drinkers switch to cheaper whiskies.
