Buildings and landmarks across Scotland will be going dark for an hour this weekend as part of the WWF's Earth Hour. The global event invites people and organisations across the world to switch off all non-essential lighting in a bid to raise awareness about climate change.

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007 and has since become a massive annual event. In 2011 millions of people across 134 countries/territories participated and Scotland became the first country to secure support from 100% of its cities and local authorities.
