Thanks for the welcome Hebhunter.
I don't know if the Black Rock is significant but I think I have found a common factor with New Cumnock, Ayrshire and the Cumnock in NSW.
The Arthur Memorial UF Church, which sits on the site of Cumnock Castle was built in 1912/13 with the help of money from the Arthur family, one of whom had moved to NSW.

Hugh ARTHUR was born in
1828 in Benston Farm, New Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. He died in
1898 in "Curra", Peak Hill, New South Wales, Australia. Hugh sailed for Australia in
1848 aged 20, and worked for seven years before taking up a block of land "Burr" at Strathbogie in
1855. This was sheep and mining country. Hugh returned to Scotland and married his neighbour, Wilhelmina Janet Houston from Garclough, a neighbouring farm on the 5th of May 1859. Both of Hugh's parents were now deceased, but his brother William from Well Hill and his wife's brother John Houston witnessed the marriage.

ps The nearby Arthurville, NSW was named after the Duke of Wellington (probably)
