Scone Palace
The
palace was built in the early nineteenth century by architect William
Atkinson.
The
maze (right) was designed by Adrian Fisher in the shape of a five-pointed star -
as featured in the Murray family crest. About two thousand beech trees, half
green and half copper, were planted to create the "tartan" effect. David
William-Ellis was the sculptor of the figure in the fountain at the centre.
It is located on the site of the Monks' Playgreen where they played their own
version of football.
