Pitlochry

Just north of Pitlochry is Killicrankie, the scene of the battle in 1689 where Bonnie Dundee's Jacobites were victorious despite the death of Dundee himself. Within the Pass of Killicrankie is the famous Soldier's Leap where redcoat Donald McBean is said to have jumped 18ft across the River Garry to escape from the chasing Highlanders. The Balfour Stone marks where where Brigadier Barthold Balfour was shot and buried.
