Elgin

Elgin Cathedral was attacked by the Wolf of Badenoch in 1390 after he had burned nearby Forres.

In 1402 the cathedral was attacked twice by Alexander MacDonald, the son of the Lord of the Isles. The second time he attacked the bishop preached to MacDonald and his men and they begged for forgiveness. The cross that stands in College Street was erected as an apology.
