Musselburgh
The Honest Toun

Musselburgh is located to the east of Edinburgh, at the mouth of the River Esk. This former fishing town, which was originally known as Eskmouth, takes its name from the mussel beds found in the Firth of Forth.

In 1547 the Battle of Pinkie took place to the south of the town, alongside the River Esk.

The racecourse dates from 1816 and is the oldest in Scotland.
