Hopetoun House

This mansion, near South Queensferry, was originally built from 1698 to 1701, designed by Sir William Bruce for the Hope family - later the Earls of Hopetoun. Further building work was started in 1721, carried out by William, John and Robert Adam.

The house is now home to the Marquess of Linlithgow - a descendant of the Hope family.
