Kerrera

This small island sits in the Firth of Lorn to the west of Oban and acts as a natural protection for the harbour there.

Alexander II died here in 1249 while trying to gain the Hebrides from Norse rule. In 1263 Haakon of Norway gathered his troops here prior to the battle of Largs.

A memorial to David Hutcheson sits at the northern end of the island.
