Inchkeith
This island
of Inchkeith lies in the Firth of Forth, southeast of Kinghorn in Fife; in the 16th
century it was known as the Island of Horses.
When the
plague came about in 1497 it was used as a isolation hospital and patients were
transported here from Edinburgh, it was also used as a prison.
Robert Stevenson
designed the lighthouse that was erected in 1803.
