Great and Little Cumbrae

Little Cumbrae from Millport, Great Cumbrae
(See the galleries for more photos of  the Firth of Clyde!)

The Cumbraes are two islands that sit in the Firth of Clyde, about two miles off the Ayrshire coast, between the mainland and the Isle of Bute; the two islands are separated from each other and the mainland by two stretches of water known respectively as The Tan and the Fairlie Roads. A ferry runs from Largs on the mainland to Great Cumbrae, the larger of the two islands; the ferry lands at the slipway near the northern end of the island where a bus is available to take passengers to Millport at the southern end of the island.
