Upper & Lower Largo

Largo was the birthplace of Alexander Selkirk in 1676. His life story, published in 1713, was used by Daniel Defoe as the basis for Robinson Crusoe, first published in 1719.

Andrew Wood built the first canal in Scotland to take him from his home, now known as Wood's Largo Tower, to the kirk.

Inland is the volcanic hill Largo Law. According to legend it is a piece of rock that was dropped by the devil as he rode past. On top of the hill is an outcrop known as the Devil's Chair. There is also a legend concerning gold that is supposedly buried there.

The standing stones near the 1st green at the Lundin Links golf course are 6m/18ft high.
