Kincardine

Kincardine, known fully as Kincardine-on-Forth, was founded as a burgh in 1663 on reclaimed marsh land and developed as a port trading in salt.

The Kincardine Bridge was built between 1932 and 1936 and the nearby Longannet power station was opened in 1966; the coal mine for Longannet, the last deep mine in Scotland, was closed in 2002.

Tulliallan Castle, built 1817-20, has been the home of the Scottish Police college since 1954.
