Edinburgh
Castlehill
Castlehill is the uppermost part of the
Royal Mile, running from the
Castle
Esplanade down to the Lawnmarket.
At the bottom of Castlehill is a mini roundabout; from there
Johnston Terrace heads southwest, along the southern side of Castle Rock, to
Castle Terrace. The Upper Bow, literally the upper part of the West Bow, heads
briefly southeast. At one time this was the main access to the west of the burgh
of Edinburgh, from the West Bow in the
Grassmarket, but Victoria Street has
since replaced it.
