EdinburghCanongate – South SideOn the southern side of Canongate, just after the position of the Netherbow Port, is St. Mary’s Street. Chessel's Court is a mid-18th century development. This was formerly the site of the Excise Office, the scene of the final robbery of Deacon Brodie, which led to his arrest and execution. Huntly House is the location of the Museum of Edinburgh. Displays include the original version of the National Covenant of 1638. Chrichton's Close, which is the location of the Scottish Poetry Library. |
