Ailsa Craig
Fairy Rock

Ailsa Craig lies in the Firth of Clyde, about 15 miles south of Arran; this 1114ft high mountain island is now a bird sanctuary for gannets (with the first reference made in 1583). There are summer excursions to the island from Girvan.

This small island is also known as Paddy's Milestone due to it's location between Glasgow and Belfast. A legend has it that the island is a rock that was thrown here by a giant in Ireland.

A small castle on the island was held in the name of Spain during the Reformation.
