Dunblane

Dunblane is located on the Allan Water, near the western end of the Ochil Hills and to the north of Stirling. The name of the town is derived from St. Blane and the 13th century cathedral is dedicated to him.

Following the Reformation, the cathedral became a ruin, but it was restored in the 19th and 20th centuries. Although it is still used as a church, it is actually in the care of Historic Scotland.

To the northeast of the town is the site of the 1715 Battle of Sheriffmuir.
