Around Glasgow
Like Edinburgh, as
Glasgow has grown a number of nearby villages have
become part of what is known as Greater Glasgow:
- Drumchapel, Maryhill and Partick to the northwest
- Springburn to the north
- Easterhouse, Shettleston and Baillieston to the east
- Pollockshields, Pollockshaws, Cathcart and Castlemilk to the south
- Nitshill to the southwest and Govan to the west
Just off the M77, near the Pollock junction,
environmentalists protested against the building of the motorway by building a
village in the trees that were due to be cut down.
