Corstorphine

Corstorphine lies about 4 miles/6km to the west of the centre of Edinburgh and was incorporated into the city boundaries in 1920. The original village dates back to around the 12th century with a castle being built in the area in the 16th. This was dismantled in the 18th century with the 16th century doocot being all that remains.

Corstorphine Hill, to the north, is the location of Edinburgh Zoo; the zoo was founded in 1909.
