Loch Awe

At 37km/23 miles, Loch Awe is the longest loch in Scotland. The River Orchy flows into the northeast end, near Kilchurn Castle, while the River Awe flows form the northwest arm, through the Pass of Brander, to Loch Etive.

There are a number of islands on the loch:

The A85 and railway line follow the northern end of the loch and continue alongside the River Awe. The A819 heads down the eastern side of the loch to Cladich and from there the B840 continues alongside the loch to Ford at the southwest end where it joins the A816 just north of Kilmartin.
