Helensburgh

HelensburghHelensburgh is situated at the point the Gare Loch meets the Firth of Clyde, about 12km/8 miles northwest of Dumbarton. Helensburgh can be reached by following the A814 that follows closely to the Clyde coast from Dumbarton or, during the summer months, by a passenger ferry that runs between the town, Gourock and Kilcreggan.

Helensburgh was founded in 1777 by Sir James Colquhoun of Luss and was named after his wife.

Hollywood actress Deborah Kerr was born in Helensburgh.
