Arrochar

Arrochar

Arrochar is situated at the northeast tip of Loch Long, with the water of Loch Lomond just a mile and a half to the east. This fact was used to good effect by the Vikings in 1263 when they sailed up the sea loch and dragged their boats across land to its neighbour.

The CobblerIn more peaceful times Arrochar makes a good base for hill walkers and climbers that come to walk and climb in the Arrochar Alps. This is the range of mountains to the northwest of the village, the most famous of these is Ben Arthur, which is also known as the Cobbler.
