Argyll

Map showing the location of Argyll & ButeArgyll is a land of lochs, mountains and islands. It is the 11th smallest local authority in terms of population although it covers 7,023 sq. km. This area also covers the ancient kingdom of the Scots of Dalriada.

Within its boundaries lies the Cowal peninsula and the long peninsula known as Kintyre as well as Lochs Awe, Fyne and Etive. To the north of Loch Etive is the Benderloch peninsula with Appin and the mountains of Glen Coe beyond.

This area includes many of the the inner isles of Scotland - over 90 islands including Mull, Coll, Tiree, Islay, Jura, Colonsay, Gigha, Lismore and Bute.
